Thankful

As Thanksgiving approaches this year I've been looking around at all the things I am thankful for. On Facebook, I've joined all the others in naming one thing each day I am thankful for- you know... each kid had a day, my parents, my amazing husband, best friend, siblings, my Keurig, my Tahoe, my house, my camera, homeschooling, being a stay-at-home-mom. All the things that one would typically be thankful for. I have no kids today (except Quinn) and I am sitting around cleaning up after them and it's bringing things into a different perspective for me. I am so thankful for toys all over the house- because it means I have happy, healthy, messy kids who are blessed to have toys in the first place, I am so thankful for my huge pile of laundry that I normally hate doing- because that means we're blessed with clothes on our back, and it means that I have so many special people in my life that I am able to care for. I am thankful for hand prints on my mirrors- that means all my babies have 10 fingers, I am thankful for the shoes lining the stairs waiting to go into their rooms because that means each one of our babies has 2 legs. I was thankful to clean my dirty kitchen table because that means we eat family meals around our table that is big enough to fit our whole family. I am thankful for all the toys in our yard- we look like rednecks but the kids have so much fun. Sometimes I am even thankful for my oh-so-small house because that means my family is always close to one another and no matter where I am, I can hear my babies. Today I am finding the beauty in ordinary household chores that normally I do without putting any thought into them. I am so thankful and crazy in love with our little family.
